Since posting my last video about how to create “aqua” order buttons using Photoshop I’ve had quite a few people find my blog looking for instructions on how to slice a Photoshop file into a website.
Not only this but a good friend of mine got stuck and had this exact same question…
“How do I slice up a Photoshop file into a website?”
Watch this 5 minute video and I’ll show you exactly how it’s done. Then I’ll show you where you can pick up some free Photoshop website templates that just need image slicing in Photoshop and turning into live websites.
(If you’re watching Joe I hope this helps!)
If you’re stuck for website design ideas or you’d like an easy starting point for your new website design then here’s a website full of layered Photoshop templates ready to go. All you do is make the changes you’d like to make then slice them up and add them to your HTML page.
Here’s where you can get some free Photoshop (PSD) website templates…

But the very best place for Photoshop website templates has got to be:

As usual… any questions, just let me know.

I created a website template using http://www.quickwebcreations.com (very cool tool) and then sliced it with http://www.sliceimage.com (great if you don’t have Photoshop, and they give you $200 in useful e-books). I’m not sure if Gimp has a slice tool. The image had a header, middle and footer, and a border. When I put them together in Kompozer or Front Page, there was a gap where the three images met. I looked at a template from http://www.alberthallado.com (another good site) that had a similar border. There was a html code for “BORDER COLLAPSE”. I used it and the gap disappeared. I’ve checked a few sites and books and it is tough to find this code mentioned anywhere.
