One question I get asked a lot is if it’s possible to create decent website designs using only free web design software.
Since not everyone can afford the high-end web design software, free software may be the only option for some. So I’ve compiled a short list of 4 absolutely free web design software for you to try.
1. 1st Page 2000 by Evrsoft

This program has been around for years, and won many awards. It’s easy to use, and very flexible, but has many advanced features for the more experienced user. Some of its features suitable for beginners are customizable toolbar buttons and keyboard shortcuts, three different modes (easy,expert, or hardcore), instant help anytime, with a built-in Spell Checker and Thesaurus.
And for the more advanced users it includes over 450 Javascript and VB scripts, full support for SSI, CGI, Perl, Colf Fusion, ASP, Flash, Shockwave, etc.
All in all, a very powerful and flexible program which has enough features for any website design project, but is still easy enough for most beginners to use.
2. WebPlus SE from FreeSerifSoftware

WebPlus SE, and it’s big brother WebPlus 10, have also been around for years, and have matured into full-featured web design software products. WebPlus SE is free, and WebPlus 10 is currently being sold for less than $US20.
If you want to create a simple website design, WebPlus SE is more than enough to get you started. It offers a range of templates, easy controls, wizards, smart objects and automatic navigation bars which will get you going.
On the other hand if you need to add more advanced features to your website like eCommerce, Flash animations, etc, then WebPlus 10 might suit you better.
3. Fusion Essentials by NetObjects

This is another free program which is based on a more powerful program, in this case Fusion 11. Like most of these free web design software products, it includes a Form Builder, drag and drop capabilities, custom tools, etc. For the more advanced user it’s also capable of setting up a Photo Gallery, eCommerce Cart, etc, and you can use Flash and Quicktime as well.
It also includes Web Management tools and a built-in FTP uploader.
Here’s another program which is easy enough for the newer user to manage, but has plenty of features for those with more advanced skills…
4. PersonalWebKit

Personal WebKit is a bit different from the other free web design software I’ve listed, because it was originally a commercial program but is now being offered for free download.
Because it was designed to be a commercial program, it has all the features you would expect from a high-end program, like built-in templates which are fully customizable, the ability to auto-link pages, the ability to set up Photo Galleries, etc. It also lets you import video, music, and PowerPoint, MS Word and PDF files.
The program also includes direct FTP access, but it goes one step further and also includes a Web Publish option which is capable of auto-updating your website whenever you make any changes to the website design.
All in all, a very good program which is capable of matching the high-end software, even though it is now classed as free web design software.
So there you have it, not one, but four free web design software products which are not only capable of doing a great job of basic website design, but most of them are capable of doing a top job of setting up much more complex website designs.
Download one of them, or download them all, and have a play around with them. You’re sure to find one that suits your needs, and after all, the price is right!

The presented web design software looks interesting to me!
Maybe I will check this out, but I think in the end I will go back to “Old School” coding

For those who simply can’t afford web design, these are acceptable tools. However, I cringe every time I hear someone ask how they can get web design done cheap or free.
