5 Hot Tips For A Big Selling Squeeze Page

By Brian Terry on September 23rd, 2008

1. Keep your squeeze page design clean and simple

If your squeeze page looks complicated without a clear call to action, no one will stick around. You’ve only got 8 seconds to hold them so, use them wisely! Complicated or confusing graphics and text will make your job harder.

Remember, when you have someone’s email address you can talk them any time you like at any time you like, so why try and do everything at once when all you really need is their name and email address?

2. Restate your offer in your opt-in form “submit” button

In other words does your button say “Submit” or something more specific like: “Yes! Send Me The Free Report” or “Give Me FREE Instant Access”. It has been proven repeatedly that offer specific submit buttons increase response.

3. Don’t include a “reset” button in your opt-in form!

This is a real deal “killer” because it gives people the chance to opt out. Give them fewer choices and you make them take the one you want.

4. Use check boxes and not radio buttons

The problem with radio buttons is that people often leave them set to default without reading them carefully to make sure it’s the correct choice. With check boxes people have to make a specific choice and stay subscribed longer.

5. The less you ask the more you’ll get

Keep your opt-in forms simple. You only need someone’s first name and primary email address. “Primary” because people often have more than one email address, so get the most important one!

Maria, you have the singular skill you not only made it look easy - you actually made the process easy for anyone to do. In fact, you made it soooo easy that my wife has also decided to become a web copywriter.

This is the only book of its kind available anywhere. I received your Web Copywriting Mastery Course and am currently studying the material. I can say it is very eye opening and quite easy. “Web Copy That Sells” has revolutionized my online writing career.

Thank you very much! Because you’ve made it so easy, my wife has also decided to become a web copywriter.
Tim Russ, Freelance Writer

“Maria, I love your Web Copywriting Mastery Course! You couldn’t have made it any easier. I really like the way you walk me step by step through the entire process and make it all so simple. “I’ve tried writing copy before.

I’ve read a number of books on the subject, and I took an Internet Marketing course in which I was supposed to write a sales letter, but I could just never get started.

The books and the person teaching the other course told me what needed to be in the sales letter, but they never told me how to do it. You teach the extra step that I’ve never seen anyone else teach. The how. “I also just love listening to you.

7 ways to design a website… without designing a website

By Brian Terry on September 17th, 2008

It might sound like a contradiction… but it’s entirely possible to design a website “without” designing a website …and what’s more I’ve got 7 quick and easy ways for you to do it that won’t cost you a single penny.

So exactly how do you design a website without designing a website? The simple answer is you “legally” use other people’s website designs, all you do is add your own content.

There are exactly 7 ways you can do this (all without even touching an HTML editor!)…

1. Go to WordPress.com and create a WordPress blog using one of the templates they give you (this one’s really obvious which is why it’s first in the list). If you’re thinking a blog isn’t a website you’re wrong, it is. It’s all down to how you set it up and which template design you chose to use.

2.  Go to Weebly.com where you can create a website and a blog. Through their drag and drop interface you can create your website in minutes, using any of their excellent website templates.

3. Go to Roxer.com and create a website using their simple and easy to use interface, it’s not quite as good as Weebly or some of the others in this list but it gets the job done quickly and easily.

4. Go to  BlinkWeb.com and create anything from a standard website to a blog or even a direct response sales letter! This has got to be my favorite online website creation tool for anyone who wants to get something up and running and into profit quick.

5. Go to Google Sites and create a more basic and functional looking website. Becuase fewer templates are provided. It looks like this is aimed at publishing pure content which can be updated by a group of people.

6. Go to Google Page Creator where you can easily create a really nice looking clean website with lots of templates to chose from.

7. Go to Knol and create an authority style content website. There are no templates designs to chose here, but it’s not really needed because the default page design is already very good.

As I see it the main benefit to Knol is all about content and because it’s run by Google I suspect that any content you add there will get quickly spidered and indexed. (I’m about to test this out to see how true it is).

So there you have it, my top 7 pick of places you can go and design a website “without” designing a website.

Can your really judge a book by it’s cover?

By Brian Terry on September 12th, 2008

They say you can’t judge a book by it’s cover…

I’m here to tell you that people do. In fact it’s been proven that a well designed ebook cover can and does increase your sales by 200% or more.

People make their buying decisions based on emotion, the emotions are then justified by the features.

What makes you feel good? An example of this was when a friend of mine bought a Porsche, I asked him why and he said he liked the leather seats. Of course the real reason was the way driving the car made him feel.

I know a Porsche isn’t quite an ebook but I’m sure you get the idea.

When you buy a book at your local bookshop what’s the first thing that catches your eye?

It’s all in the presentation

With me it’s the design, the way it looks, what it’s saying to me without reading the words. Only then do I absorb the words and take in the meaning, finally picking it off the shelf if everything it says matches what I’m looking for.

The same is true online when looking at a website. I’m sure the same is true with you…. am I right?

The first impression is the lasting impression, one that can be hard to change.

If your web sites and your graphics look amateurish at first glance what does that say about you and what you’re selling?

Can you see where this is all leading?

7 Revealing Questions About Your Website Design You Probably Wished You Asked Earlier…

By Brian Terry on September 9th, 2008

Do you have a “Big Selling” website?

Only by asking yourself these 7 questions will you know…

1. Can you tell someone your domain name without having to spell it out?
This is critical because if you make it hard to spell or include hyphens in all kind of places you’re dramatically reducing the power of your online brand.

2. Can visitors tell what your website is about within the first 7 seconds?
You’ve got just 7 (probably less) seconds to grab your visitors attention, do you make it really clear what your site is about and what the ultimate benefit is to people who decide to take a closer look?

3. When was the last time you added new content (if your website is a blog)?
I must admit I’m guilty of this one not having published to this blog for over a month! Adding regular fresh content to your blog is essential if you want to grow your online sales.

4. How long does it take for your site to load?
A slow loading website does no one any favors, least of all you. How about doing this… go to a place where they have a very slow connection speed and see how long it takes for your website to load. You’ll also see how your website looks other people on other computers with different web browsers.

5. Does your website have a clear call to action?
So you’ve got this great looking website full of powerful information, do you tell your visitors what you want them to do as they read your site?

It’s really important that you tell your website visitors what you want them to do, it might be to click on an order link, or to enter their name and email address so you can send them even more great stuff. There must be a clear call to action on your website.

6. Do you use Google Analytics?
If you’re not doing this already shame on you! How do you know how effective your website is if you don’t know how many of your visitors convert into customers or subscribers? Google Analytics is free to use so there’s no excuse for this one.

7. Does your website have a strong headline?
Does your website simply say… “Welcome” in big letters at the top of your websites home page or does it say… “Who Else Wants to Discover The Secrets To ___?”

You see a strong attention grabbing headline will do more for your sales or the number of subscribers you get more than anything else, period! Click here to download a PDF ebook that shows you how to write great headlines that sell.

So, how well did you do?
Have you got an easy to spell domain name? Does your website communicate what it’s about in under 7 seconds? Are you tracking what your website visitors are doing?

Some of these website design questions might even seem obvious to you, but I’m willing to bet that there’s at least one thing in my list that you’re not doing right now. What are you waiting for?

Copywriting – 5 Steps To Prepare

By Brian Terry on July 24th, 2008

What sells your product? Too many people build a website with graphics, thinking they will get the attention of prospects that will turn into buyers.

Now graphics may get attention, but it’s the words that sell, not the graphics.

However, most people don’t know how to write to sell on the internet. There’s a big difference between writing copy and writing copy that sells. Before an inexperienced writer puts pen to paper, they should follow these 5 steps to prepare.

  1. The first key to writing successful copy is to understand the mindset of your customer. Become your customer. It’s not as easy as it sounds because you see things from your point of view. You must learn what your reader wants and needs.

When you do this then you can stay a step ahead of your readers and answer their questions to solve their problem.

  2. Get to know your product well.

You are making a big mistake if you assume you know your product and you haven’t checked every little detail of your product.

  3. Get to know your niche by viewing other websites. Subscribe to ezines and get all the information you can to make yourself an expert.
  4. Get to know your competition.

Subscribe to their newsletters and study the benefits that they have in their sales copy. Do they have a benefit you haven’t thought of?

Check out their prices and bonuses.  Knowing your competition will allow you to offer better benefits and write a better sales copy.

  5. Find you target market, people who actually want and need your product.

Your ideal customer can be found by making a list of people who would benefit from your product. After you have identified you target market, you can now write specifically to those people. What benefit does you product offer that will solve their problems.

The best person to write your sales copy is you. You’re the one with the product knowledge and passion for your subject. Copywriting is turning this knowledge and passion into words on the page. Your success depends on how well you prepare.

The Last Word In Finding Viable Niche Markets?

By Brian Terry on July 16th, 2008

Today I read a great post by Michel Fortin, it had to be the last word in finding viable niche markets! He summed it up so clearly with these 4 steps that must be taken…

  1. Viability
  2. Sourcing
  3. Website
  4. Marketing

He said that Viability is the most important one of all.

You see most people just do keyword research, you know… looking for how many people search “x” keywords during the past 30 days.

Then if they find a keyword with lots of searches they thing they’ve hit the mother load. When in fact you need to go far beyond this to get the real answers behind the profitability of any niche market.

Recently Michel Fortin launched his “Marketing E.S.P” product which explains exactly how the top marketers online determine the viability of a niche market before getting into it and extracting maximum profits.

Is this course any good?

I honestly don’t know, but what I do know is is that everything Michel does is of the highest possible quality and value.
