      One of the best resources for web design is: http://www.webdesignfromscratch.com/web-2.0-design-style-guide.cfm

      It’s a great guide to designing in a “web 2.0″ style - including the major principles (simplicity, central layout, fewer columns, etc.) complete with examples of good design in each area.
