csm Centralize, Systemetize then Monetize

Did you know that… there are 3 essential components you need to begin using right away to become “super” successful online?

The problem I see every day is how people go online, set up a website then fail to earn a dime.

And most of the time it’s because they’re not using these 3 essential components within their online business.

If you’ve read this far after reading the title of this post you’ve probably already guessed what those 3 things are.

But do you know what they mean? or even how to apply them to your online business?

Let me explain in 3 easy steps…

Step 1: Centralize

Here’s where so many people go wrong!

They use the scatter gun approach to running their online business. So usually they’ll have one resource here, another over there, then one more around the back. Each one needs a username and password to access.

Can you see the problem with this approach? Look at how much time is wasted jumping from one website to another just to be able to run your online business.

Centralization of your resources is the solution. There are many ways of doing this. The most obvious is to use an online ecommerce solution which has many of the tools you use already built into one place.

For example with a centralized ecommerce solution your autoresponders, your affiliate programme and your customer management systems are all in one place. There’s just 1 login to access all your “mission critical” data.

Step 2: Systemetize

When you systemetize the way you work online everything gets done quicker and more efficiently. Another way to look at systemetization is by creating set procedures for the tasks you do on a regular basis.

To find out exactly what you need to systemetize just write down everything you do online for at least 3 days.

Why You Need Long Tail Keywords

By Brian Terry on Monday, March 3rd, 2008

No internet business should operate without using long tail keywords to find probable customers.

Long tail keywords are phrases, 3 to 5 words in length, that are typed into the various search engines by searchers looking for specific information.

It’s a well known fact that the single keyword searches bring in many more searches daily, but it’s important to remember that they’re just not as targeted to specific information as are the multi-word “long tail” keyword searches.

Here’s an example of what I mean… single keywords may produce 1,000 to 5,000 searches a day, while the long tail keyword phrases may only produce as few as 5 to 100 searches.

A single keyword phrase might be “marketing” but a long-tail keyword phrase would be “online internet marketing business opportunity”.

Listen to this because here’s where it gets interesting…

It’s these 5-100 searches on long tail keyword phrases that can produce the best possible results because they’re so specific.

From all the research I’ve done over the years in niche marketing it appears that there are some really motivated buyers in these highly selective niche areas. And it’s those long tail keyword phrases that help you find them.

Recently I created a video that shows you an powerful yet seriously overlooked system for generating a huge volume of long-tail keyword phrases. You can watch this keyword research video here.

Many marketers make the mistake of producing information they think the public wants without knowing what they’re really interested in simply because they didn’t do their keyword research. This wastes so much time and just doesn’t produce the desired results.

Here’s all you need to do…

Focus your website towards the more generic search term, but gear your articles, blog posts, Squidoo lenses, and hubs toward the smaller group of searchers who are looking for very specific information that you can provide. It’s these interested buyers that should convert well for you.

When you’ve done your keyword research and found a great long tail keyword phrase to write about be sure to use it in your article title. This way you’ll get incoming links using your search term, and your ranking will move up, producing potentially more free targeted traffic for you.

Here’s how it works…

More long tail keywords = more probable customers

Be sure that when you’re writing your article or blog post you’re aiming for a 3%-6% density or word usage of the phrase you have chosen throughout what you’ve written.

To help you out here’s an excellent online tool that shows you what your website keyword density is. Play around with this until you’ve got the desired keyword density within your article.

As a rule you’re looking for your main long tail keyword phrase in your title, your intro paragraph and once in each paragraph as long as it reads naturally.

Using selected long tail keyword phrases gives you the following benefits…

  1. Increases the quality of your traffic from the search engines …because it’s more targeted.
  2. increases conversions from the specifically targeted buyers you have attracted …because it’s more targeted.
  3. increases brand recognition within your niche market …because you’re targeting is more precise.

I highly recommend learning as much as you can about long tail keywords because they’re the lifeblood of any successful online business.

Here’s a superb article I recently discovered that’ll give you an even better understanding:

The #1 reason most people fail…

By Brian Terry on Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

Just the other day I was visiting a well known online marketing forums and I found myself reading one post after another from people struggling to create a successful website.

You know there has to be some fundamental underlying reasons why so many people just don’t “get it” and just fail.

The fact of the matter is most people who go online to make money never even make a single penny, and those that do usually end up making less than $100 a year. (I should know because several years back I was one of them, until I discovered where I was going wrong.)

I’m hoping that what I’m about to reveal will set the record straight and keep you from making the same mistakes I made.

Let’s take a look at the possible reasons for online business failure…

No product to sell or promote?
That can’t be it… there are thousands of products and services available on the internet for people to affiliate with and promote. For example I run a Big Selling Affiliate program that shows you what you need to do and gives you products to promote and make money from.

There’s a ton of software, e-books and programs available to teach you how to promote products and services.

In some cases all you have to do is implement the steps you’re shown, send traffic to their website and you’re ready to start making money.

Lack of knowledge?
That can’t be it, there is so many e-books and programs available on the internet that tell you anything you want to know and how to do it, that you get too much information.

Even for a beginner, there are programs that show you how to copy exactly what someone else has done and sell their product without learning anything. Why not become a Big Selling Intern and I’ll show you exactly step-by-step what you need to do, this is a perfect example of how anyone can get started for free.

The Internet doesn’t really work?
Wrong again, the internet is growing at a fantastical rate and is predicted to continue this growth for many years in the future.

The rules, laws and operating procedures for running an online business have been tightened up recently in some countries and could possibly even tighten-up more, but this will not stop the growth of the internet for many years to come if at all.

So, have you figured it out yet?

Why you MUST become fanatical at testing and tracking

By Brian Terry on Sunday, February 24th, 2008

It should be obvious to any person with some marketing experience online that there is no magic pill to success.

To be honest with you I’ve grown tired of reading email after email filled with claims on how easy it is to sell online.

Whilst this can be true, what many fail to tell you is there’s more to it than just putting up a website and driving traffic to it.

Are you ready for the “real” truth behind successful online marketing?

Here it is…

“Fanatically test and track everything!”

Let me say it again, it’s that important…

“Fanatically test and track everything!”

Before you get started with your testing and tracking you need to know what your website conversion rate is right now. This gives you a yardstick to measure future improvements to. In scientific terms this is called your “control”.

Knowing your conversion rate before making, say a change in your headline, is the only way to know for certain if the change made has a positive or negative impact.

And by split testing one headline against another you’ll soon find a winner that beats your control.

Here’s a word of warning… never make a steadfast change to your copy based on some other marketers advice.

This is critical and it’s where so many people fall over…

What works for them may not work for you too.

Plus, how do you know they’re not merely repeating some “mantra” they read or heard elsewhere?

A classic example of this is to make your headline a bright red color. Whilst in some markets this might be the “winning” headline color, in other markets it could fall flat on it’s face and reduce sales conversions massively. Can you see the importance of testing?

Whilst it’s true you can increase sales by increasing the traffic to your site, it’s not the easiest way to do it.

Let’s face it, increasing your traffic is either going to cost you more money or a lot of time and effort (certainly more than split testing and tracking everything to improve your existing sales conversions).

However, just throwing more traffic at your website without knowing your baseline conversion metrics means you’re leaving money on the table because you do not yet know the full potential of your sales process.

Let’s play with the numbers for a moment to give you a good example of what I mean…

Say you have a 1.5% conversion rate and 1000 visitors each week.

That’s equal to 15 sales a week. Not bad.

And each sale is worth $20 in profit.

1.5% x 1000 = 15 X $20 = $300 profit each week Now, increase traffic 50%… 1.5% X 1500 = 22.5 x $20 = $450 profit

Let’s step things up a bit…

Now you increase your conversions to 2.5% and send more traffic, let’s see what happens next…

2.5% x 1000 = 25 x $500 profit. That’s $200 more than in the example above and $50 more than sending more traffic.

Let’s send more traffic to our 2.5% converting site and see what happens with a 50% increase.

2.5% x 1500 = 37.5 sales x $20 = $750 profit each week. Replicate this over 4 weeks and your financial picture changes dramatically.

Always keep this in mind…

Only when you’ve got your sales conversion percentages as high as possible should you begin to consider increasing traffic. This ensures you get the very most return on your investment (ROI) in any marketing campaigns you run that send you more traffic.

Becoming fanatical at testing and tracking is the true path to online wealth.

To help you get started here are the testing and tracking tools I use and recommend you use too…

Google Analytics: www.google.com/analytics/

Google Analytics tells you exactly where your organic traffic is coming from, what pages people visit, how long they stay for and even how well it converts.

Google Website Optimizer: services.google.com/websiteoptimizer/

This other service by Google is integrated with Google AdWords, but don’t let this hold you back because you can use it by itself on any website you own and costs nothing to use. Google Website Optimizer enables you to run “split tests” where you test one website component against another automatically.

To access both these superb tools for free all you need is a Google Account.
