How to Create High Profit Margin Products

By Brian Terry on Friday, April 11th, 2008

You may want to subscribe to my RSS feed if you're new here. Thanks for visiting!

Following on from the 4 steps to a big selling website where I reveal exactly what it take to create a big selling website I’d like to expand on step 2 which is all about creating a product to sell with a high profit margin.

There seems to be a belief surrounding product creation that it’s actually hard to do or it takes months and months of blood sweat and tears to get there. I’m here to tell you it’s easier than you think and creating a product with a high profit margin is no different.

First lets take a look at what’s meant by a “high profit margin”…

This is nothing more than you buying or creating something for a ultra low cost and selling it for a price where your profit is very high. As I’m sure you know only too well it’s digitally downloadable products that can generate the most profits.

And it’s those digital products that are the easiest to create when you know how.

A digital product is anything you can give to people with a perceived value that they can download from your website to their computer, what this can be is limited only by your imagination.

So what high profit margins can you create that you can offer to your hungry market with money to spend?

The simplest and the easiest answer is “just ask them”. Ask them what kind of problems they have that relate to the niche market you’re going after. All you do then is provide them with a solution, again it’s all very simple.

By Brian Terry on Wednesday, February 13th, 2008
profitable-websites-ideas-made-easy

Back in December last year I wrote an article that explains step-by-step how to come up with ideas for your next website, just in case you missed it here it is again (read on because I’ve got something for you that makes the whole process of coming up with website ideas even easier)…

5 simple steps to a bright idea for your next big selling website!

Now what I want to give you today is a push-button solution to coming up with website ideas. It’s a simple web application I created a couple of years ago and now I’ve brought it bang up to date by expanding and broadening the number of potentially profitable website ideas you can generate all at the touch of a button.

Take a look at this, it’s called: BigSellingIdeas

Click here for website ideas at the press of a button

NB. If you’ve been reading this blog for any length of time you might remember me mentioning a website I have called “TheresAnIdea.com”. This is basically the same online idea generating tool, only it’s not as up-to-date as BigSellingIdeas.com

In searching for more information about how to get ideas for niche websites I found this excellent article by Allan Gardyne that’s well worth reading (he gives you 27 great ways to come up with ideas)…

Where to get ideas for a niche website

I hope this helps.

The website diversification factor!

By Brian Terry on Thursday, December 20th, 2007

Getting your line up of products right is essential and comes right before website design and a long way before increasing conversions.

I want to take this opportunity to help you build your online business horizontally by using the website (or niche) diversification factor.

The “niche diversification factor” focuses on what we refer to as “horizontal expansion.”

Think of it this way…

Your niche product

That’s the “beginning” point.

You create ONE niche product and you begin selling it at a website.

Good for you.

But, let’s be honest, you’re probably not going to break the bank with one niche product.

In fact, if you can make $400-$700 per month with a niche product to begin with, that’s a good start.

So, what do you need in order to really cash in on this strategy?

You need to expand “horizontally.”

Look at it this way…

Your niche product + A related product + a related product

In other words, you add more and more RELATED niche products to your lineup.

The keyword here is RELATED.

Ok, so let’s talk about why expanding your product line “horizontally” is so important

Suppose you have a site that sells a niche product that shares “7 Romantic Weekend Getaways.”

5 simple steps to a bright idea for your next big selling website!

By Brian Terry on Wednesday, December 19th, 2007

You can’t just “throw up” a website! Not if you want it to pull in visitors and build a highly profitable online business. You need to think it through, very carefully.

You need to ask yourself…

Who are you talking to?

What are your sales messages?

What do you want the visitor to do?

How easy is it to pay you and complete the order form?
Get this wrong and you’ll fail, badly.

But follow me and it’ll be easy for you to create your best website ever!

So, what’s the bright idea?

That’s it - that’s where we begin … you Need a Bright Idea!

Take a look at the “Easy” brand www.easy.com. It’s a simple bright idea around which an impressive business empire has been built.

And coming up with your next bright idea suddenly got a lot easier!

Here’s how.

You simply follow these 5 steps…

Step 1: DEFINE your idea. Instead of just asking, “How can I make money?” ask: “How can I make money with this product, selling to this target audience in this type of environment?”, be as specific as you can.

The more details you can have the more likely you’ll come up with a solution that answers question. Half the game is in figuring out the question that you want answered.

Step 2: GATHER as much information as possible about the subject of your question.

This step is crucial because this knowledge spawns new ideas as you begin to discover lots of different interconnections.

A big key to your success is to continuously question your question! Sometimes you only get a few “half ideas”, but just write them down no matter how crazy they may seem.

Allow your mind to fit the connections together. It can sometimes take a while, but stick with it.

Step 3: DROP the whole subject and put the question you’re asking out of your mind!

Let your subconscious take over. Do something you enjoy that stimulates your mind and emotions. Put on some music, go to the movies - just get away from the question.

Step 4: AMAZINGLY, out of nowhere your “bright idea” will suddenly appear. It’s likely to come to you when you least expect it, perhaps when you’re taking a shower, or washing your car. It may even occur in the middle of the night, so be ready with a notepad and pen!

Step 5: FINALLY let’s put your idea under the spotlight.

Maybe your idea isn’t as great as you first thought. Don’t worry, just talk it through with other people and make any changes that are needed to alter your idea so that it answers your original question. And that was: “How can I make money with this product, selling to this target audience in this type of environment?”

And there it is - 5 simple steps to a bright idea for your next big selling website! Let me know how you get on.
