Is Your Website A Profit Pulling Powerhouse?

By Brian Terry on Saturday, December 15th, 2007

One of the biggest turnoffs that DESTROYS your chance of earning a sale online is a poorly designed website.

And just as bad is an overly designed website with all kinds of sites and sounds that require dozens of extra software plugins to access. You’ve really got to find a balance.

Folks come to your site for INFORMATION, not to watch the entire Star Wars trilogy. They’re looking for content, not special effects. So, unless you are targeting movie-goers, keep it simple.

But, keep it professional. You want a quick-loading, professionally designed website layout that says, “I’m for real.”

You can hire a professional website designer to do it for you. That’ll cost you anywhere from $25 to $2500, depending upon your needs and the designer you’ll find that as with anything you get what you pay for.

Doing a search at your favorite search engine for “web design” or “web site designer” or some similar term will fetch you hundreds and hundreds of possibilities.

To find website designers (who understand direct response) you could try any one of these freelance websites…

How To Create 3D “Aqua” Order Buttons

By Brian Terry on Thursday, December 13th, 2007

After 5 years of keeping this one to myself it’s time to break my silence and reveal how you too can create great looking 3D “aqua” order buttons in the short video you see below…

Just press the play button above and learn one of my secrets to a big selling website.

Once you’ve watched the video above here’s what you’ll know how to create…

 An Aqua 3D Order Button

Out of all the things you can test on your website to help improve conversions getting the order button right can make a big difference. But as with anything it all comes down to split-testing one element against another.

Here are a few ideas on what what you can test with your 3D order button…

1. The button color
2. The words used in the button
3. Use hyperlinked “click here to order” text below your button
4. Test with and without a graphical order button

(On number 3 I added testing including hypertext link under your order button, this is because some people prefer to click text links rather than graphical buttons in some of my own tests, if you give your visitors a choice you’re covering all your bases).

If you’ve got a copy of Adobe Photoshop and you’d like the quick way of creating buttons like this I’ve set up a download link below containing an Action Script along with 3 ready to go web optimized order buttons. Test them out on your website and let me know how you get on.

Click here for your free 3D order buttons and action script

I’ve got so many ideas for videos to help your website not only look great but sell like crazy I honestly don’t know where to start.

Is there anything else you’d like to learn how to do? Just let me know and I’ll create videos that shows you how.

A quick-loading website design?

By Brian Terry on Saturday, December 8th, 2007

The appearance of your website speaks volumes about the product or service you offer.

Imagine an unshaved, shabbily dressed sales representative walking into a meeting - a half hour late - with mustard on his sales proposal. That company just lost a sale.

Unfortunately, many websites look like this kind of sales rep. The layout resembles either a shabbily dressed salesman or they go overboard and look like a rep who is wearing a Halloween costume.

The graphics load slowly, like someone 30 minutes late for a meeting. The sales letter is filled with typographical and grammatical errors, and it has no flow from one paragraph to the next. Oooh! Looks like mustard stains!

The appearance of your website is critical to the success or failure of your online business. It must…

The “Ginsu Doesn’t Hold A Candle” Bonuses

By Brian Terry on Saturday, December 8th, 2007

One of the things that I have found very effective in writing sales letters is to include bonus items that OUT-VALUE the actual product that you are offering.

Ginsu made this one famous. They were selling a set of steak knives, but before the commercial was finished, you had so many bonus items on the table it was hard to refuse.

You had butter knives, paring knives, knife sharpeners, butcher knives, knives, knives, knives! Remember what the commercials would repeat…

…”but wait, there’s more!”

While there is no hard-and-fast rule for how many bonuses to include, there are three “laws” that I feel should apply to all bonus offers…

Law of Relativity: First things first, in order to get maximum benefit from your bonus offers, they need to relate to the main product itself.

Law of Exclusivity: What you want to avoid in bonuses is giving away something that is available on a gazillion different websites.

Law of Quality: This SHOULD go without saying, but I must bring it up. Make sure your bonuses are *high* quality. Not some cheap eBook that has no value in its information.

Do you apply these 3 laws in your website offers?

What motivates people to buy?

By Brian Terry on Friday, December 7th, 2007

When someone visits your website, they’re looking for something specific.

He (or She) didn’t stumble across your site by accident.

Learn this: Everyone who visits ANY site online is looking to meet a need in his life. Did you catch that?

Let me repeat it because it is important. Everyone who visits ANY site online is looking to meet a need in his life.

There are no exceptions. Whether it be to make new friends in a chat room, purchase a bouquet of flowers to ship to mom, or find information on how to promote a website, we surf the net to meet SOME need in our lives.

Your website must provide some way of meeting whatever our need is that led us to your place.

There are TWO reasons, and two reasons alone, why people make purchases…

Listen to today’s podcast to find out what they are!
