What can you do with these?

What can’t you do might be a better question.

You probably already know what you can do with private label rights to information products.

You can put your own name on them, you can give them a new title, you can change them, add to them, break them up, etc. It’s almost like you had written the material yourself, except you can’t sell private label rights to them.

You can even add audio, video, create membership sites, etc. You’re limited by ONE thing – your imagination.

Software works the same way, except if you want to alter the code, you might need to hire someone to do that for you, unless you’re good at that sort of thing. But hiring someone is super easy and can be done at a variety of sites that hook people up with coders all over the world.

But who says you need to alter the code? You can sell these products just as they are, with maybe a new name to jazz it up a bit.

Bottom line: John has spent the last 8 years of his life creating these products, and you can have full rights to them in one feel swoop. He spent far more than $150,000 creating these. In fact, that’s just how much he spent on the first two categories of products, so I suspect he may have spent close to half a million, who knows?

What I do know is that you and I don’t have that kind of money to create products. Okay, I know that I don’t have half a million… do you?

You can browse by favorites, all , or search. Each template details number of views, comments made and the number of downloads. You can add your rating for individual templates via a 5 star system.

2. opendesigns.org
A community providing 1527 free open source website templates over 55 pages, you can view details of each design for: age, validation, license, columns, contrast, width and colours. An active forum is available for your questions and information.

3. openwebdesign.org
You’ll find over 3707 designs available for download via search or browse facility at this site. Designs are categorized as either fun or business. The search facility allows a good range of specificity in what you are seeking.

4. oswt.co.uk
Here you’ll discover 267 free open source XHTML CSS templates with 100% W3C validity. It contains both frameworks for pages and CSS Menus as well as fully designed web templates. You can browse or use the search feature that allows you to select parameters including W3C validation type, accessibility, CSS and images .

The option of template layouts and CSS menus provides much greater flexibility and freedom than fully developed designs, not if you are only looking for ready to go designs. It also offers links to some interesting and potentially useful online tools ie: CSS Formatter and Optimiser; Web Form Factory and a PHP Object Generator.

5. csstinderbox.com
This is another site for those a little more confidence and ready to try a more hands on approach to design. It provides very basic, yet solid, CSS/XHTML design templates as a framework or foundation for building your own web design, as well as some fully designed templates.

6. themebot.com
You’ll find a wealth of choice at this site with 6599 templates, skins, themes and layouts for HTML, Joomla, Drupal, Wordpress, e107, SMF, XOOPS, PhpBB, Flash and Myspace. Go to downloads on the menu bar then website templates. All free templates are easily accessible via graphical buttons for the particular platform designed for. Each thumbnail contains the usual information on columns, width, layout, W3S validity and a 5 star rating system.

7. opensourcetemplates.org
While this site claims to be the original site for open source templates is contains 20 fully designed templates, and the link to the wordpress templates actually links to a vector art site with interesting visuals. Still in the 20 open source templates you may find one that is right for your purposes.

You can view examples of sites created with doodlekit, read the frequently updated blog and participate in the user forums that include current postings.

3. Blinkweb is a free, easy to use online web builder that creates blogs, content or sales letter styles of sites. It offers a simple drag and drop functionality, with a wide range of designs to choose from.

You can easily create: Testimonial boxes, order buttons, checkmarks; optin forms as well as easily adding video to your site. You can create unlimited sites and either host, for free, with a sub-domain at blinkweb or purchase your webpage creation so that you can download it and host it elsewhere with you own domain name.

5. Blue Voda is a website builder that must be used in conjunction with blue voda hosting. Their tagline boasts that you can build your own website in 30 minutes and have it live on the internet by tomorrow morning! You don’t need any HTML web design knowledge with it’s easy to use drag and drop functionality.

It has pre-designed website templates for unlimited web page and website creation. One click publishing means that you are live on the internet in seconds. It comes with very comprehensive video tutorials on practically everything you need to get your site live, including ecommerce set up. The follow up series of email that you receive on registration are also very helpful.

The above list of 5 free website builders gives you the opportunity to try out the various forms and structures of easy to use free webpage creation tools. Try one, two or all of them to discover which you feel most comfortable with. There’s no need to become an absolute expert in webpage building, although a little confidence and knowledge will serve you well in your online life.

While you don’t need to be an absolute expert it is a good idea to have at least a basic knowledge and understanding of CSS (cascading style sheets), how to use them and how they work. One of the biggest benefits of using CSS based websites over non-CSS websites is that they produces faster loading pages.

If you can’t wait to get started, you’ll find excellent tutorials and “try it” examples for CSS and a wide range of other web building languages at w3schools.com. I highly recommend you pay them a visit once you’ve selected some CSS website templates from the treasury I’ve assembled for you below. A word of warning: many of these sites have very similar domain names so if you like a particular site, keep good records so you can return to it easily.

This site contains over 1200 free CSS templates. This site is very easy to use with excellent categorization providing you with so much more than CSS website templates. You can navigate to CSS: layouts, menus, tutorials, articles, gallery, references and resources as well as the opportunity to purchase premium templates.

Practically everything you could ever hope for in the way of CSS. The template search navigation tab allows you to search via: name, designer, category, layout type, contrast, doctype used, columns and color. Niches include: childcare, dating, builders, resume, software, bookstore and more.

The themes are generic, and you will need to scroll through each page to find something that appeals to you. What I like is these templates have fast loading images, tables-free layout and comply with W3C stands with valid XHTML strict. Images are public domain from PDPhoto.org and Wikimedia Commons.

179 CSS website templates are available from this site with no restrictions. Themes include construction, pink, gardens, music, food, paint, camera, fashion, bird store, consultant, cars, generic and more. Preview design of your choice to discover views, downloads and upload date.

All templates comply with W3C standards for XHTML/CSS website layouts and are released under the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 United States License.

7. FreeCSSTemplates.com
45 free CSS templates, Themes include: Event planner, real estate, spa, financial, business, and many generic. All templates are valid XHTML, available under Creative Commons Attribution 2.5 License.

This is a great site with 3336 free Wordpress templates. It offers clear categorization for easy navigation and selection. It is also updated daily so there is always something new to check out.

Some of the themes you will find are: agriculture, animals, café and restaurant, communications, dating, industrial, jewelry, motorcycles, society and culture. Searching by properties allows you to view by: columns, colour, sidebar, width and plug ins.

Profitable Website Ideas – In Just One Click?

Your probably thinking one of two things right now:
” Yeah, right” or “Show me where I can get these profitable website ideas in just one click”

I’ll share with you later how you can get a ready researched idea with just one click of your mouse.

When you get a bright idea for a website, if you know the process to follow you’ll be able to very quickly assess it for its profit potential on the internet.

Here’s my 7 step checklist for assessing profitable website ideas.

Step 1. It’s important to choose a subject that you have some interest in, so you won’t get bored, after all this is a business you are setting up, so you want something that excites you enough to keep going.

Step 2. Make a list of your hobbies, passions and areas where you have some expertise or life experience. Perhaps you’ve overcome an illness via alternative means, successfully adopted a child. just let the ideas flow.

Step 3. Select the 5 from your list that most interest you and then investigate each one, reporting your findings in a spreadsheet for easy comparison.

Step 4. Think about who can benefit from your information? Where are they, what do they do, how do they access the internet, are there sites or groups where your potential customers gather? Build a profile of your “ideal” client. Age, gender, hobbies, problems, desires, location, socio-economic etc.

Step 5. Market research: This is probably the most important of the 7 steps because this is where you will discover the answer to your question, “Is this a potentially profitable website idea?”

5a. Discover what books and monthly magazines are published on your topic.

A great place to research this is http://www.amazon.com and look in the books and magazines sections.
If you find a good number of books and magazines then potentially you have a winner. Publishers don’t waste money on unprofitable ideas.

If you find that there are no monthly magazines or books published on your topic, go back to step 1, immediately. DO NOT WASTE TIME on an unprofitable idea, no matter how much you like the idea.

Step 6. Find out how many searches are being carried out each month on topics around your profitable website idea. A site you can use for this is:

This will also provide you with lots of other relevant keyword phrases.

Definition: Keyword phrase is the term that you and other people put into an online search box.

How many searches do you need to gauge potential profitability?

As a guide at least 3,000 per month, less than this and it’s considered too small for profitability. Next you take a look at how many competing websites there are for you keyword phrase. To do this put your keyword phrase into a google search and then see how many websites come up, you want a figure of around 30,000 or lower.

If your research shows that your keyword phrase doesn’t match these parameters STOP and start at Step 1 with your next potentially profitable website idea.

Step 7. Are people talking about your topic idea?

Go to Google.com, and conduct a search on your topic / phrase. Then click on the Show options link, near the top left of your screen.

A new list of links will appear to the left of your search results

Find and click on the “forums” link. This will bring up all the forums that mention your keyword phrase.
If you find a good selection of forums on your topic bookmark the page.

You will use these as a resource later to enhance your knowledge on your subject, expecially finding out what problems people are having, provide support to others and build your reputation as an expert.

So in a nutshell if:

1. You have topic/s you’re interested in
2. There are published, hard copy books and magazines on the topic
3. Online searches are between 30.000 and 100,000 per month
4. There are online communities talking about your topic

Then, congratulations, you’ve confirmed the potential of your profitable website ideas and are well ahead of most people who grab any idea and run with it without taking the time to do their research first. They put in hours of time and effort for now reward, and then wonder why.

The right time to ask this question is BEFORE you even put pen to paper to create your first draft or wireframe of your website.

However once your site is live, it’s important to continue to test for usability.

Website usability is a critical component of your success as a web marketer. If your users can’t easily take the actions you want them to, you could be missing out on more than just lost sales. When users find your site easy and perhaps even fun to use they are more likely to tell others about it, and generate more traffic.

So how usable is your website?

How quickly and easily can your website users find what they need?

I’ve put together a list of resources below to help you assess this very important question.

1. First it’s vital that you know exactly what you want your “ideal” website user to be doing when they come to your page. It’s a good idea to map this out ie: when a new visitor comes to my webpage I want them to see ___________and do ______.

2. Excellent navigation is key for web usability. Good navigation allows the user to answer 3 questions : Where am I? Where have I been? Where can I go?

“Breadcrumbs” are an excellent way to achieve this. Breadcrumbs are text linked indicators of your journey to pages within your website. eg: home FAQ How much is the program? could be the bread crumb trail to a “How much is the program?” page.

3. Your navigation needs to be clear and consistent in its look, feel and location. You can achieve this by using templates. There are many places you can source quality free templates such as oswd.org and opendesigns.org

4. A site map is an important feature of a usable website. A site that allows you to quickly generate a free sitemap is: xml-sitemaps.com

5. It’s important to be able to track and assess the actions your users are taking, to determine how useable your website is. This is made possible by software scripts such as those found at crazyegg.com you can access a free 30 day trial of their visual heat maps on you webpage users activities.

6. An opensource (free) alternative for heat maps can be found at labsmedia.com/clickheat/index.html Clickheat allows you to see hot and cold click zones on your pages.

7. wave.webaim.org is a free web accessibility evaluation tool providing an on-page view of accessibility with embedded icons rather than complex technical reports. The entire webaim.org site provides a wealth of information and training in web accessibility.

8. usabilla.com offers a 5 minute, 5 step process that gives feedback at every stage of your design process

b. select the pages you want to show your users
c. select questions for your pages
d. Invite your users to participate
e. Feedback analysis and statistics

Design Your Website For Your Visitors, Not For You…

Most websites that win design awards are not great websites. In fact many provide a very poor experience for their users.

Awards are usually given to sites that are different and stand out from the crowd, but this often means they have non-standard navigation, lots of flash animations and unique design elements.

This means that these sites are generally less intuitive. Visitors have to think about what they need to do to get the information or result they want.

7. Offer a guarantee that makes your offer that removes all risk.

When you remove any risk your prospect might have your sales will sky rocket! The best way to approach this is to answer any objection they might have within your sales copy. Then in your guarantee tell them there is no risk “when” they by from you.

8. Add your personal signature.

Even if you’re using a made up name on your website you’ll get more sales if people feel they know you personally. Your personal signature could even include a photo and a short audio.

9. End all your sales letter websites with a PS.

Your PS should succinctly tell your readers why they should buy and exactly how to do it. Remind them of the reasons why they need your product.

10. Test!

Remember to change only one element at a time and test the difference each change makes to your sales. Don’t just test your headline colors but test entirely different sales letter designs against each other. The more radically different your test subjects are the greater the difference in conversions you’ll see.

Do The So Called “Gurus” Really Care?

It’s a good question!

I see it myself every day, you have these “expert” marketers that have become the very best in their field. Everyone looks up to them, admires their skills and amazing rags to riches stories. They get the most traffic, the most subscribers, and the most profits.

But try sending them an email or asking them a simple question and you’ll most likely get the cold shoulder. In many cases the best you might get is an automated email reply directing you to their support desk where one of their “trained” staff can help you.

Have they become a victim of their own success, so busy running their operation that they no longer have time to for a one-to-one conversation with one or two of their subscribers or customers?

The other day I had this superb email arrive the other day from a subscriber I had been helping out with their website for the past couple of months (again they made me wonder how much the gurus really care)…
