Hi Brian,
Do you re-design websites for pay? If so, I would love to talk with you. Thanks.
Jean
I don’t have a website yet. I have a degree in Graphic Design, and I’m planning on going back to school to get a better grasp on the technical aspect of web design. I have found your website very helpful and inspirational. In this current economy is their a solid career in web design? What classes would you recommend ? I have some experience with Dreamweaver. (5 years ago) What is the main Website building software being used today? Thank you for your time.
Hello Erik, thanks for your message.
If you’re a good graphic designer I would say there is a solid career to be found in website design. Website design is huge and opens up many more possibilities for you than the traditional offline design for print route. The industry standard website design application is Dreamweaver so the fact you already have some experience with this will help you a lot.
You’ll also need good skills in Photoshop and Illustrator. If you can gain some skill in Flash that’s also going to help but it’s not necessary.
The more skills you have the easier it will be for your. For example if you can convert your website design into CSS you’ll probably have more work than you can handle because you can then work with WordPress themes.
I don’t know of any courses you can take, however this website will give you lots of good solid information on the more technical aspects of website design. They also have some excellent products which will give you some of the skills you’ll need.
